Overdue

I'll start this off by saying that the "free" market in health care in the United States is the only "free" market where you :

  1. don't have the right to know the cost of a service before it's rendered
  2. pay EXTRA for the privilege of paying cash, up-front, on "net 0" terms (which means your first bill is a collection letter)

Think about that for a minute. Would you get your car fixed that way?

The usual cop-out from the provider is that "insurance pays for it, so why do you want to know?" That's a bit of a whopper unless you have one of those gold-plated plans.
